Hideo Kojima Reveals Name of Company Mascot, Meets With "Drive" Director

Just a few days after teasing that the Kojima Productions logo was in fact only just the head of a full body, Hideo Kojima has now revealed the name of the mascot. Its name is Ludence, Kojima said on Twitter.

Now that it's known that the mascot actually has a full body, Kojima asked fans to weigh in with what they think Ludence is wearing. .

In a new issue of Japan's Famitsu, Kojima revealed that the logo has a secret. "It has a full body, a really cool full body," he said. "We're planning on putting out a figure version of it."

Kojima officially left Konami in December 2015, which is also when he announced the formation of a new version of Kojima Productions, meaning the company is now five months old.

Now an independent studio, the company announced a partnership with Sony for a new PlayStation 4 and PC game, which Kojima recently said aims to appeal to fans of Uncharted and The Division.

"When it is announced, you might think, 'That's not outstanding,' but you'll understand when you see it and play it. The genre is action," he said.

Kojima has also said he hopes the game can be expanded eventually into a series, while he also would like to see anime, manga, and toys based on it.

In other news about Kojima, he recently traveled to Denmark where he met with Nicolas Winding Refn, the director of Drive and Only God Forgives.

According to Kotaku, Refn was one of the celebrities who provided a praising quote for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain's E3 2014 trailer. He said, "Watching the trailers for MGS V makes you wonder if the spirits of Dostoyevsky, Stanley Kubrick, and Caravaggio entered Hideo Kojima's body because, using the art of gaming as his canvas, he boldly goes where no one has gone before."

What they talked about at their recent meet-up in Copenhagen remains a mystery.
