Writer/producer Simon Kinberg may make his directorial debut with a new X-Men movie, according to a report today from Collider. He has already reportedly written the screenplay.

"From what I hear, it does focus on the Dark Phoenix storyline and it's now up to the studio if they'll use his script and if he'll get to direct it," Collider reported.

Series actress Sophie Turner is slated to appear, though other casting details are unknown.

You may not know Kingberg by name, but you're likely familiar with his work. He's written, produced, or otherwise been involved in movies like X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Deadpool, Logan, and the upcoming New Mutants.
