Though the BioShock movie from Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinksi never materialized, some images from the project have emerged in the form of concept art. As spotted by ComicBookMovie.com, conceptual artist Kasra Farahini posted a batch of images on his website.

"Fun sets to design!" Farahini said. Head to this page to see all ten pieces of artwork, which show off a dark and desolate Rapture.

The BioShock movie started production in 2008, when Universal Pictures hired Verbinski to direct. He wanted to make an R-rated film with a reported $200 million budget. This apparently didn't sit well with Universal, which dropped the budget to $80 million, in turn leading Verbinski to exit.

28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo later come on to direct, but BioShock creator Ken Levine apparently didn't like his vision for the movie, and decided to end its production.

"Take-Two is one of those companies that gives a lot of trust to their creative people, and so they said to me, 'If you want to kill it Ken, kill it.' And I killed it," Levine said in a 2013 interview.

The most recent BioShock game was 2013's BioShock Infinite, which was developed by the now-shuttered Irrational Games. No new games in the series have been announced, but according to Take-Two, the franchise has not yet reached its full potential. Future installments will be developed by 2K Marin.
