Here Comes the Pain goes gold

THQ and JAKKS Pacific announce that development on their latest WWE SmackDown! wrestling game for the PS2 is complete.

THQ and JAKKS Pacific have today announced that WWE SmackDown! Here Comes the Pain has gone gold and is now being prepared for retail. The game, which was developed by Yuke's of Japan, is currently scheduled for release in North America on October 27.

"We are thrilled with prerelease buzz from media and fans for WWE SmackDown! Here Comes The Pain, a perennial hit and top holiday seller for the past three years," said Peter Dille, senior vice president of worldwide marketing at THQ. "WWE SmackDown! Here Comes The Pain sets the bar for wrestling games and delivers all of the superstars, legends, gameplay modes, and authenticity that the fans demand."

WWE SmackDown! Here Comes the Pain features more than 55 wrestling superstars and boasts an all-new story mode created in conjunction with WWE writers. For more information, check out our previous coverage of the game.
