Strategy First has announced that Hearts of Iron, a World War II strategy game of epic scale, has gone gold and will ship on November 19. Hearts of Iron is based on the same engine and game system as Paradox's acclaimed Europa Universalis and its sequel, which let players take control of any world country and vie for power in the period stretching from the late Middle Ages through to the Napoleonic era.

Hearts of Iron is set from 1936 to 1946, and, despite the tighter focus, the game is similarly complicated and even adds a number of new elements for players to control. The combat now lets players set a number of tactical stances and includes all the WWII units you'd expect, from mechanized infantry and tanks to dive bombers and aircraft carriers.
