There is no word on how many of those 40 million players have spent money on Hearthstone. But the game is already a big success for Activision; it is estimated to generate $20 million per month from microtransactions.

More news about Hearthstone may be announced at BlizzCon today or tomorrow during the show. Check back with GameSpot throughout the weekend for more.

Also during Activision's Investor Day briefing today, the company announced a new film and TV division, which will produce movies based on Call of Duty and a Skylanders TV show.
