Hearthstone's Days Of The Frozen Throne Event To Offer Freebie, Budget Bundle

Don't fear power, fear those who wield it.

As the weather starts to turn chilly, Hearthstone is offering a special bundle and in-game events to match. Next week Blizzard will kick off the "Days of the Frozen Throne" event, featuring a new Tavern Brawl, new quests and loot, and a specially priced bundle.

The event celebrates the Knights of the Frozen Throne expansion, which launched in August 2017. That expansion was the first to introduce the new Hero card type, in the form of nine distinct Death Knights. If you're still missing some Death Knights, you can pick up a "Bundle Up Bundle" next week that will offer 30 Frozen Throne packs for $20. That's roughly double the usual packs at that price, but keep in mind that those cards will rotate out of Standard play next spring when the new year launches.

The week will also mark a special Tavern Brawl, which has both players begin the game as one of the Death Knights. You can also score a free Golden Happy Ghoul card just for logging in, and two special Legendary quests will offer a whopping 300 gold apiece.

The event kicks off on September 19 and lasts through September 24. Knights of the Frozen Throne was one of the most impactful expansions in recent Hearthstone play, and many of the Death Knights still see regular competitive play. Since then Blizzard has been releasing new Hero cards as central characters of the stories in later expansions: Hagatha the Witch in The Witchwood expansion, and Dr. Boom, Mad Genius in The Boomsday Project expansion. One more expansion is planned for this Standard rotation year, which is likely to fall in this calendar year.
