Heart of Darkness Picked Up by Interplay

The new action-adventure title gets picked up for US publishing by Interplay.

Interplay has picked up the North American publishing rights for Heart of Darkness, an action-adventure game being developed by Amazing Studios.

Infogrames will publish Heart of Darkness in Europe; Interplay and Infogrames will split up publishing rights for the remainder of the world.

Not based on the Joseph Conrad novel, Heart of Darkness is the story of a boy called Andy who must rescue his dog Whiskey from the forces of evil by entering a world of magic and overcoming his fear of the dark. Along the way, he climbs, swings, swims, and shoots nasty critters - you know, the standard action-adventure game stuff.

The characters in Heart of Darkness are rendered in a 3D animated style perhaps most reminiscent of Toy Story. It's expected that the game will be released for Sony PlayStation, Windows 95, 98, and NT environments in the spring of 1998.
