HBO Releases Chilling Official Trailer for True Detective: Night Country

The show, due out this year, looks to be a gripping crime drama set in Alaska's enigmatic winter night.

HBO has released the first official trailer for True Detective: Night Country. The clip was exclusively revealed during Warner Bros. Discovery's unveiling of the Max streaming service on the Warner Bros. lot in Los Angeles, and the series is expected out sometime this year on Max.

The logline for True Detective: Night Country is as follows: "When the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves, and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice."

The series stars Jodie Foster, Kali Reis, Fiona Shaw, Finn Bennett, Isabella Star Lablanc, Aka Niviâna, Anna Lambe, and Joel D. Montgrand, with Christopher Eccleston and John Hawkes. Issa López serves as the showrunner, writer, and director for all episodes.

Foster takes on the lead role in the series and also serves as an executive producer. The teaser offers a glimpse of the show's atmospheric and chilling tone, featuring icy landscapes and intense performances from the cast.

The executive producers for True Detective: Night Country include Barry Jenkins, Adele Romanski, and Mark Ceryak for Pastel, Mari Jo Winkler, Chris Mundy, Alan Page Arriaga, Steve Golin, Richard Brown, Woody Harrelson, Matthew McConaughey, Cary Joji Fukunaga, and Nic Pizzolatto. Princess Daazhraii Johnson, Cathy Tagnak Rexford, and Sam Breckman serve as producers.
