HBO Max's The Last of Us has officially cast Henry and Sam, the brothers who featured in the original game. IGN revealed that Henry will be played by Lamar Johnson (Showtime's Your Honor), while his younger brother, Sam, will be portrayed by newcomer Keivonn Woodard.

In addition to Henry and Sam, Graham Greene (American Gods, Dances with Wolves) and Elaine Miles (Smoke Signals) will guest star as Marlon and Florence, two new characters created for the show.

In the game, Joel and Ellie meet Henry and Sam in Pittsburgh, while hiding from both human hunters and the infected. Their relationship was shown to be very tense at times, with Sam being berated by Henry if he believed he did something that would hinder their efficiency or, in particular, Sam's safety.

The Last of Us, based on the video game of the same name, is a 2013 action-adventure game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony. It tells the story of survivors, Joel and Ellie, as they make their way to find a cure for a sickness that has turned most of the world's population into monsters. Upon release, The Last of Us received critical acclaim, with praise for its story, engaging gameplay, visuals, sound design, musical score, and characterizations. It became one of the best-selling video games, selling over 1.3 million units in its first week and 17 million by April 2018.

The new characters Marlon and Florence are simply described as "a married couple surviving alone in the wilderness of post-apocalyptic Wyoming."

Pedro Pascal was previously announced as the main character Joel while Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones) takes on the role of Ellie, Joel's surrogate daughter, and has the power to cure the infected. The cast also features Gabriel Luna--who was cast to play Joel's more rash brother, Tommy, Nick Offerman, Murray Bartlett, Anna Torv, and Merle Dandridge.

The first episode of the season wrapped production almost a year ago, but fans have yet to see any official footage of the show so far. The official Instagram account did post some footage from atop where they were filming and you can hear the crowd chants of "f*** Fedra", which in the game is the Federal Disaster Response Agency. In-game they pretty much run the country and not always with the best intentions.

HBO Max's The Last of Us is expected to hit the streaming service sometime next year.
