HBO made a series of announcements regarding its future pipeline, and one of the reveals was that Mindy Kaling will play Velma in a new Scooby Doo spinoff called Velma. There is also a new show called Uncanny Valley coming that follows the story of robots who kill their owners and take over their identities. Another show, Hello Paul, follows a neurotic millennial cat. But let's get started with the Velma show.

Velma is described by HBO as an "adult animated comedy series" that tells the origin story of Velma Dinkley, the smartest member of the gang.

"An original and humorous spin that unmasks the complex and colorful past of one of America's most beloved mystery solvers, executive producer Mindy Kaling will voice the titular character," reads a line from the description.

In addition to Velma, HBO announced a new original series called Orders: Clone High from 21 Jump Street and The Lego Movie's Phil Lord and Chris Miller, along with Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence. A reboot of the original, the new one brings back original Clone High writer Erica Rivinoja as its showrunner.

HBO also ordered a new show called Fired On Mars, which is an "existential workplace comedy" set on Mars. Pete Davidson voices the main character in the show that takes place on the campus of a Martian tech company.

Additionally, HBO ordered season two of Close Enough, a comedy about a married couple, their young child, and their divorced friends who live together in Los Angeles. "Season Two has Josh, Emily, and the gang continuing to navigate adulthood while contending with haunted couches, bulbous horses, time-travelling whiskeys, and a literal houseguest from hell--all in their very own apartment," reads a line from the description.

Season Two premieres on February 25 on HBO Max.

"It is a tremendous privilege to build on the 100 year plus legacy of cartoons at this company," HBO Max's Suzanna Makkos said in a statement. "We can draw a straight line from our hundreds of childhood hours spent watching Bugs outwit Elmer to the current slate of adult animated projects we are building here at HBO Max and we think fans will agree. We are proud to introduce this distinctive group of series from a wide range of diverse creators that will form a first stop destination for animation lovers everywhere."

HBO is also working on a new show called Hello Paul about a neurotic millennial cat; another program called Obi about a 30-year-old man who wants to become an artist; Uncanny Valley, which is about three helper robots who kill their owners and try to assume their identities; and an espionage thriller called Cover from Brian Michael Bendis and David Mack based on their DC comic.
