Haunting New Twin Peaks Teaser Features Some Familiar Faces
"It will be a place both wonderful and strange."
The much-anticipated third season of classic TV mystery Twin Peaks is set to hit screens next year. Creators David Lynch and Mark Frost have returned to the iconic show, while the full cast list released back in April revealed that many of the show's original cast members would also be back. Now it has been confirmed that composer Angelo Badalamenti is providing the music once more.
The news was revealed in a new teaser featuring Badalamenti performing the haunting "Laura's Theme"--plus shots of a spooky wood and a very familiar face. Check it out below:
Twin Peaks Season 3 is yet to be given an official premiere date by Showtime. In July, star Ray Wise said that the show would be broadcast in the summer, and stated that Lynch had directed all 18 episodes.
A large number of other actors from the first two seasons will be returning, such as Sherilyn Fenn, David Duchovny, Miguel Ferrer, Dana Ashbrook, Grace Zabriskie, Everett McGill, and Sheryl Lee.
There are quite a few famous names visiting the mystery-shrouded Washington town for the first time too. Robert Forster, Amanda Seyfried, Tom Sizemore, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tim Roth, Ashley Judd, Michael Cera, and Laura Dern are among those who will appear.
Earlier this year, Showtime president David Nevins revealed that he had seen some of the footage. "I've seen 25 minutes of cut scenes," he said during the TV Critics Association press tour. "I was shown selections and bits. I have not seen an entire assembled episode. This was just to get a feel for various characters.
"I don't want to sit here and over-hype, but it was incredibly exciting. It definitely felt like you were in the hands of a master."
Twin Peaks originally ran for two seasons between 1990 and 1991, with the prequel movie Fire Walk With Me following in 1992.
