Hogwarts Mystery is set in the 1980s, after Voldemort has been (kind of) vanquished but before Harry Potter starts attending. That means we're unlikely to see kids from the Potter days appear in the game, as well as professors who joined later in the series. The idea is to give players their own Hogwarts experience without tying it to the events of the books and films. Players can create their own student, pick one of the four houses, go to classes to learn magic, and make branching story decisions.

This is one of two announced Harry Potter mobile games. The other, Wizards Unite, is being developed by Niantic, the studio responsible for Pokemon Go. Like that game, it will have you exploring the real world to collect power-ups and defend key points. Warner Bros. has teased yet another Potter game for consoles, but no announcement has been made.
