Hands On: House of the Dead 2

An import version of Dreamcast's arcade gun-game sequel arrived in the videogames.com offices today. And we were armed and ready to play.

An import version of Dreamcast's arcade gun-game sequel arrived in the videogames.com offices on Monday, completely halting normal work for several hours. The graphics, which were pretty much the only complaint about the Saturn port of the original, are stunning and if not arcade perfect - they're awfully close.

As in the first HOTD, there are a number of branching paths at several different points within each level. Your ability to take these paths depends on your ability to save humans from being killed by the various creatures, including the usual lumbering zombie with the semi-loose eyeball.

The Dreamcast gun seems very accurate and feels comfortable in your hands. The addition of the Puru Puru Pack (the Dreamcast "Rumble Pak") kicks up recoil, as well as shaking when the monsters get in a blow at you.

Look for an import review soon, and check out these screenshots and video.
