Halo: Reach beta to attract 3 million-plus - Bungie

Final Fantasy(more of the same crap again and again just with a new guy with bigger hair) Call of Duty (for Gods sakes how many games every year) Guitar Hero (Now adding.. Taylor Swift?) Left 4 Dead (More zombies just in a diffrent place!) Metal Gear Solid (4? not to mention spin offs) Ratchet and Clank (goodness idk how many) and ever other franchise ever made. Problem is Halo WORKS and apprently nobodys getting tired of it, and apprently haters still arent tired of hating on it so go b***h on a PS3 forum.

Final Fantasy and Metal Gear have both been around for 20+ years. And they just happen to be two of the BIGGEST game franchises in terms of being immerssive , memorable, and extremely story driven, leaving you with a roller coaster of emotions by the end. Halo has stuck to its shoot this thing formula, and the odd time it tries something different doesn't do well. Not to say shooting isn't an integral, if not the WHOLE point of a shooter. But other shooting games have more depth, strategy, and accessibility to offer rather than these pathetic cash cows. Halo is the reason shooter games are becoming pathetic. Just like how the once incredible rhythm games have crashed and burned big time due to too many dips in the pot.

@Gothic-360 So you're saying you just willingly throw your money at developers who take their previous game, add a little new content, slap a new number on it and charge you $60? Then You sir, are the very thing that is wrong with the gaming industry. Its not the money hungry, and inovation starved developers who deliver increasingly short, and repedative games... its the gamers who actually buy them and make these developers rich. I can understand that sequals, and games that continue a single story aren't going to change much gameplay wise because, well, that would screw up the story. But heres an idea... Instead of streching a 12 hour story out over 3 games and charging more then $10 an hour for it... actually fit it all into one game, like Bethesda does with The Elder Scrolls games. Now thats a series that has inovation and creativity with every game... Halo? Not so much, especially since Halo 3.

It's funny when people say Halo is milked when there's only 5 games out now, and there are like 10 COD games, over 13 FF games, dozens of Mario, Metal Gear Solid, and Zelda games, and so on... (just using this as an example of a lot of games for one franchise) Proof that people discriminate Halo just because they are jealous of it's success. Not saying this to sound like a fanboy, but from what I have played, it's worth my every effort to buy it.

But that 3 million figure is absolute BS. Try something in the range of 1.5 at most.

@gbyd and anyone else with the same complaints Hate to bring this up again and risk sounding like an obnoxious M$ fanboy, but how is Halo being milked, compared with COD and Final Fantasy and Metal Gear? The series has been around for 9 years and there are only 6 games, counting Reach, compared with who the hell knows how much of FF and everything else.

Overly Budgeted...check Conceited...check Overly Hyped...check Milking a stagnant franchise to death...check Going to sell a billion copies cause 360 owners have nothing better to play in terms of exclusives...check

I think its funny seeing all the people trashing Halo. Saying the game has no substance is just stupid. I'm sure plenty of the trash talkers are PS3 fanboys, thats the price target for them. Too bad the Halo beta will probably show far more numbers than MAG's full retail release.

Like, CoD for example, even more twitch shooter-ey than halo. I love both equally, with the exception of MW2 being terribad, but they are all completely different games. I realized the other day how important strategy was in Halo, and how if used correctly, you could utterly destroy a twitch-gamer. Same with CoD, but for the most part, that's just camping for the killstreaks to do your dirty work. Fun, but it gets old after a while.

"You run around and see who has the fastest reflexes.." that's true.. it is called skills.. unlike MW2(which I play a lot =/ I really don't know why..)

Dude. Halo haters look at this for the same reason a Call of Duty hater pays attention to Call of Duty... to know what they're hating on! It's quite amazing. People get mad quicker if you trash talk there favorite video game more than if you make fun of their skin color.

@reeree746 Try playing custom games. Halo is different from most FPS, and each Halo game adds something very new and different to each installment. Modern Warfare on the other hand...

Eh Bungi lost me after Halo 3. Halo 1 was amazing... Halo 2 was more of the same, and Halo 3 (while quite fun for the MP) was yet again just better looking more of the same. Then when they released ODST and recycled the MP maps from Halo 3 and still chaged $60 I gave up on Halo and didn't buy it (unlike some, I actually don't buy games I complain about). Now Reach just looks like more of the same with Jetpacks. In all honesty its a shame to see a company (Bungi) go from releasing a very original and revolutionary game... to simply re-releasing that game over and over again for years just to ride the popularity to $$$. Hopefully they go back to their roots with the next game the release.

I can't wait till the beta comes out. Oh and for some of you who are worried about not going to be able to participate in the beta because you don't have ODST. I might have a solution for you. You could always, only if your able to, but rent ODST from blockbuster,netflix etc...

if i had a 360 id buy it, but i probably wont buy it just for it. i will wait for the PC release in 3 years.

I have to say halo 1.2 and 3 are all the SAME you can admit it they are... This one comes off different in a good way this looks like i might actually go over to my friends house to play it because it is different from the others :D

MW2 will never be as good as halo, the main reason is best described in this common scenario. Buddy walks in o dude what game is that it looks awesome can I play. Yea hold on we will take turns when the match is over. There is no split-screen!??? No only one 1v1 lololol F THAT put halo in!

This game is already doing something right that MW2 didn't do - HAVE AN EFFING BETA TEST. And, at the rate this is looking, Reach seems to be fixing pretty much every issue that i had with Halo 3. Definitely one of my most anticipated titles of the year.

this year is looking pretty sick, i got favorites on all three systems coming out and I'm totally stocked for everything! granite Nintendo is all first party, but still good year for gaming!

Why worry about "flash and substance" in a FPS game? There is the Army for that. Join the Army, and really see what "substance" means. If you haven't served in the military, then you are not qualified to talk about "substance".

Interesting... They say the beta will be used by 3 million people. But what I don't get is if only 2.3 million people bought ODST, which is required for the Beta, then how do they plan 3 million will play the Beta? Just a thought
