SIDEBAR: Not content to merely stake a claim on gaming retailer shelves, the Master Chief has stepped up the fighting on another front in his war against Microsoft-related poverty: bookstores. Tor Books today is touting the success of Halo: Contact Harvest, which went on sale late last month and debuted at No. 3 on the New York Times paperback trade fiction bestseller list for the week ended November 3.

The paper has also updated its Web site with the results of the week ended November 10, and it appears that the Master Chief's grip on the sales charts is slightly slipping. In its second week of release, Contact Harvest dropped to the fourth spot on the chart, behind Love in the Time of Cholera, Water for Elephants, and The Kite Runner.

Written by Joseph Staten, Contact Harvest is currently available for $14.95.
