Halo Infinite Will Have Microtransactions But No Loot Boxes

Halo Infinite's multiplayer will be offered as a separate free-to-play experience, and it will incorporate microtransactions for specific cosmetic items.

343 Industries has revealed that Halo Infinite will be delayed to Fall 2021. The news comes from a blog post, which also goes into how Halo Infinite and its free-to-play multiplayer will handle microtransactions.

"Yes, being free-to-play does mean that there will be some premium cosmetics, but players will still obtain tons of customization content through things like playing campaign, challenges, skill, special events, legacy rewards--such as the Halo 5 SR 152 reward--the progress system, and more," Halo Infinite lead progression designer Christopher Blohm said.

Blohm added that the team wants players to feel like they're being properly rewarded for time spent in the game. So players who don't spend any additional cash won't be penalized, they'll still be able to unlock "items across multitude of different customization types." Microtransactions will only be tied to premium cosmetics, and it's a one-and-done purchase. "No loot boxes," Blohm clarifies. "No randomness or items that influence the sandbox and gameplay."

If you're in love with the Spartan you've already built in Halo: The Master Chief Collection, 343 Industries wants you to be able to recreate them in Halo Infinite. Much like MCC, every armor cosmetic is planned to release in Infinite eventually.

"We want everyone to build their dream Spartan," Halo Infinite design director Ryan Paradis said. "We are always looking for more ways to customize in-game personas and give the players options. My team knows that our long-term players have favorites that they love and may have for two decades. We want to make sure that Halo Infinite players will be able to get their old favorites, as well as find new favorites at launch and as we expand over the months post-launch."

Halo Infinite is scheduled to launch for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Solution to many of the comments below: microtransactions in the F2P multiplayer are ok, as long as the other main, paid portion of the game with the campaign and stuff isn't full priced and is $40 or less.

They're not gonna do this, obviously, but just a thought

I'm okay with "Microtransactions" when they are done right and don't screw it up of course. The only Microtransactions I'm against are those that inhibit the ability to enjoy a game to its fullest.

Why are companies acting like no loot boxes is good when there's still microtransactions in a FULL PRICED GAME?

@Thanatos2k: MP, where the MTX are, is going to be F2P.

So, what are you whining about?

@m4a5: So you get all the content if you paid for the game?

@Thanatos2k: Sure, pay for the SP, get the SP.

Next time read the article before commenting.

@Thanatos2k: Yup. Pay for SP, get SP.

Stop trying to move the goal posts.

@m4a5: I'm not, I'm just laughing as you dance and dance around the point you know you can't defend. The goalposts are there, you keep diving out of bounds and then whining to the official because of the spot.

So you get all the content if you paid for the game? Will there be no microtransactions available when you open the "SP"? Because I'm pretty sure I see in the article up there this guy babbling about how you can still earn stuff playing the campaign. You know. The stuff you can buy? With the microtransactions? In a full priced game?

Don't bother responding if you're going to parrot the same stuff and ignore my post. But you will.

Nope. MP is separate, as the article states with the whole F2P part. Which means you don't pay for it. It's free. If you can play the MP without paying for the "FULL PRICED GAME" as you yelled in your first comment, then it's not a part of it. The part of the game you pay for doesn't have MTX. Get it yet? Or is it too inconvenient a point for you? lol

So, next time read the article before you make an ignorant comment, fanboy. Just going to the comments and looking at another fanboys comment to go off of is pretty laughable 😂

Also, go ahead and edit your comment after a reply like you usually do. Because you know an actual reply is too much for you.

@m4a5: It will be the exact same model wither you payed for the game or not.

The argument here is either a free2play model in a full priced game.

Or, essential content cut from the game at a premium (raised) price.

Neither is worthy of praise.

@uninspiredcup: No, the ignorance here was claiming the MTX were in a full priced game. Nice deflection for another fanboys comment.

@m4a5: I find it perplexing how you continue to throw the term "fanboy" and an additional "deflection", when that's literally how you are acting and exactly what you are doing.

Either it's a fully, higher tiered priced title with content removed, or a fully, higher tiered priced with a free2play model.

@uninspiredcup: Your fanboy logic is amusing. You literally only know the full priced game has a campaign, and know nothing else about the content provided.

Go BS someone else. You got called out for saying there were MTX in a full priced game (there isn't), deal with it.

@m4a5: I like how totally ignore the point twice, act like an emotionally invested fanboy, continue proclaiming other people are, then make up a strawman to deny like... facts being pointed out.

So, still a thing that shouldn't be in a fully priced game.

@uninspiredcup: It literally says it's being offered in the F2P MP.

Looks like yet another fanboy didn't read the article...

Or you could just...you know...not have any microtransactions whatsoever. But hey, what am I talking about? Nickel and diming the average gamer is the name of the game these days. And it keeps happening because people keep giving them money.
