Halo debuts on multiplayer popularity chart
Bungie's first-person shooter for the Xbox becomes the first console game to grace iGames' list of most popular multiplayer games.
Half-Life: Counter-Strike predictably retained the top slot in iGames' monthly chart of the most popular multiplayer games, and the games at positions two through four also retained their spots. It's all change lower down in the chart, though, with new entries Neverwinter Nights, Half-Life: Day of Defeat, Soldier of Fortune II, and Halo causing a real shake-up. Games dropping toward the bottom of the chart this month included Battle Realms, Quake III, and Dungeon Siege, while Serious Sam: The Second Encounter, Empire Earth, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, Aliens Versus Predator 2, and Age of Empires II slipped out of the top 20 altogether.
