Halo 5 Dev Responds to No Split-Screen Criticisms
"If we could do it, we would do it."
Microsoft's announcement that Halo 5: Guardians will not have split-screen support for its campaign or multiplayer modes has not sat well with some fans--and they're letting the company know.

Now, Microsoft has again spoken out to respond to these concerns. Halo franchise development director Frank O'Connor was the latest to tackle the subject in an exchange with a fan on Twitter.
Responding to someone who bluntly said "#BringHalo5SplitScreenBack," O'Connor replied by saying, "If we could do it, we would do it. But it is what they call 'nontrivial.'"
Back in July, Halo 5 developer 343 Industries executive producer Josh Holmes said it was an incredibly tough decision to drop split-screen; but it was necessary to deliver the best possible experience.
"Many of our ambitious goals for Halo 5 would be compromised in a split-screen setting and the time spent optimizing and addressing split-screen-specific issues would take focus from building other parts of the game," he said. "Game development is a balancing act of resources, time, and technology, and in this case we made the tough decision to sacrifice something that's been near and dear to us all."
The Halo 5 release date is set for October 27 exclusively for Xbox One.
