Guilty Gear Strive had a busy weekend during the Japan Fighting Game Publishers Roundtable, dropping three big announcements. Developer Arc System Works has confirmed that the game will be launching on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam alongside the PlayStation 4 version in 2021.

The roster is also receiving two additional fighters. Newcomer Nagoriyuki, who was briefly seen in Guilty Gear Strive's initial reveal, brings a vampire samurai energy to the mix, while the sword-wielding Leo Whitefang is also returning to action.

You can watch the two brawlers in action below, and also read an overview on each of them directly from Arc System Works:

Nagoriyuki

Nagoriyuki is the newest addition to the Guilty Gear universe. A vampire with a number of unique and powerful abilities, he wields a huge sword with impressive skill in battle and slashes at his enemies with punishing blows.

Leo Whitefang

Leo is one of the three "Allied Kings" of the Allied Kingdom of Illyria, and is responsible for the governing of Europe, the Middle East, and Oceania. He is also an accomplished warrior in his own right, with a relentless fighting style.

Guilty Gear Strive was originally scheduled for a 2020 release, but it was delayed until next year due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The team has pledged to use the extra time to further fine-tune Guilty Gear Strive based on all the feedback that was received from players during the April closed beta test.

And folks say it's mainly jrpgs that are exclusive to the Sony consoles. But if you look at it there's really a huge amount of Japanese games of all kinds that are not being released on Xbox. It's like no one but the biggest Japanese publishers cares one bit about the Xbox. How much effort could it take to do an Xbox port for a game like this? With how niche it is it sure could use the extra sales from it. But they just don't care and as it seems the extra profits would not be significant enough to make it worth their while. But they do plan on releasing a PC version. Yeah, the Xbox really stands no chance whatsoever. Even the PC is now getting more games than the Xbox, which is not something we've ever had before.

@rickjamesia: Yeah, sorry for creating a possible misunderstanding. When I talk about "games" I'm not even thinking abotu mobas and other f2p garbage. No doubt there's always been plenty of those. But I was talking about real games. Not strategy games or other PC exclusive genres either. But all those that not too long ago were still mainly being released on consoles. Only now recently have publishers started porting all of their older console games to PC as well.

And if you need examples, JRPGs are the obvious ones. Pretty much none have ever been released for PC until recent years. Now suddenly everyone is porting their old and new games over to it, even really old games like Persona 4 got a surprise release. But this has never been a thing before and all you had in the past were western point and click rpgs with a top down perspective. Very different from all rpgs found on consoles.
