Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 Will Begin Filming This Year

Director James Gunn reveals when filming will begin for the next installment.

Director James Gunn has confirmed when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will begin filming. He said on Twitter that cameras should start rolling "this year."

He didn't get any more specific than that, but it's no big surprise to learn this. Gunn previously indicated in March that filming was due to begin at some point in 2021.

Gunn is having an exceptionally busy 2021. He's still working on The Suicide Squad, which recently got its first trailer, one that broke records. He's also developing a Peacemaker TV spinoff starring John Cena, a TV special in the form of the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, and a Disney Parks ride at EPCOT at Disney World.

When he's finished with these projects, Gunn said he hopes to take a "long nap."

Gunn wasn't originally going to direct Guardians of the Galaxy 3. He was in hot water after people discovered his old tweets, but Disney would eventually reinstate him.

We still don't know too much about Guardians of the Galaxy 3, but Gunn has confirmed it won't resurrect Yondu, while the OG Groot is dead and will stay dead.

Gunn's latest project is The Suicide Squad, which comes to theaters and HBO Max (for 31 days) on August 6. For more, check out our breakdown of that first trailer to catch every single detail. Don't get too attached, however, as your favorite character could very well die--even if it's Harley herself.
