Rockstar Games has today announced that Grand Theft Auto: Vice City has gone gold and is currently in manufacturing. The game, which is the follow-up to the phenomenally successful Grand Theft Auto III , will ship to stores in North America on October 29 and in Europe on November 8.

Developed by Scotland-based Rockstar North, the game takes place in a sun-drenched beachfront town that's more than a little reminiscent of Miami in the 1980s. Players will assume the role of Tommy Vercetti, a seasoned gangster who's just been released after serving 15 years in prison.
