GTA 5, Which Is Almost Five Years Old, Was July 2018's Top PS4 Seller On PSN In The US

GTA 5 has been the top-seller on PS4 for two months running.

Rockstar's open-world action game Grand Theft Auto V continues to be a sales juggernaut. Sony has published the monthly US PlayStation Store sales charts, and the game was the top-seller for PlayStation 4 during the month. More impressive is that it's the second month in a row that Rockstar's game topped the charts for PS4 in the US.

The renewed interest in GTA V might have something to do with the crossover promotions with Red Dead Redemption II. The new After Hours DLC for GTA Online might have also given people a reason to pick up the game during the month. Whatever the case, GTA V is a massive hit that just keeps getting bigger.

By Take-Two's latest count, the title has sold nearly 100 million copies, making it one of the most successful pieces of entertainment in human history. The game brings in even more money--and lots of it--from the numerous microtransactions in GTA Online. Take-Two says GTA Online is "the gift that keeps on giving" as it relates to money from microtransactions.

Rounding out the top five PS4 games in the US for July included Rocket League, No Man's Sky, FIFA 18, and Destiny 2. Other chart-toppers included Fallout 4, Darksiders Warmastered Edition, Need for Speed, Minecraft, and Horizon: Zero Dawn. You can see the full Top 10 list below.

Microsoft does not release monthly sales lists, so it's not immediately clear how well the game is doing on Xbox One though it is surely a huge hit on that system as well.

Sony also published best-seller lists for PlayStation VR, PS3, Free-to-Play, PS Vita, and more. Go to the PlayStation Blog to see all the lists.
