The Grand Theft Auto V PC release date has been delayed for a third time, pushing the launch day back to April 14.

The game was initially scheduled to ship in "Fall 2014," and then in late January, and then on March 24. This third delay pushes the release back by three more weeks.

"Our apologies to PC gamers worldwide who have been counting down the days until the launch of the game, but a bit more time is needed to ensure that the game is as polished as possible," Rockstar said.

As a gesture of goodwill, players who have pre-ordered the game will receive an additional $200,000 in-game cash bonus to use in GTA Online.

"Our apologies to PC gamers worldwide who have been counting down the days until the launch of the game"

Rockstar statement

This brings the total bonus for pre-orders to $1.5 million ($500,000 for Grand Theft Auto V, $500,000 for Grand Theft Auto Online, and $300,000 bonus for pre-ordering before March 9).

Rockstar also revealed that Heists, the new gameplay mode for GTA Online, is scheduled to launch on March 10. The Heists mode tasks a team of up to four players to pull off a spate of raids and robberies across Los Santos and Blaine County.

These heists are thought to be complex, multi-part missions, with each player taking on a different role. New vehicles, weapons, clothing, and sundry items will arrive with the Heists update.

Below is a collection of new images released by Rockstar which offers a glimpse into Heists mode.

"Over the next couple of weeks, we will have more information about the launch of Heists and about other new features that we will release with it," Rockstar added.

GTA V for PC will also feature a new editing tool called the Rockstar Editor. This will give players a "full suite" of tools that they can use to create and publishing clips to the Rockstar Social Club and YouTube.

Like with the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 editions of GTA V, which arrived in November 2014, the PC version will support up to 30 players for GTA Online.

Rockstar has also revealed the recommended and minimum PC specs required to play the open-world crime opus.

At minimum, players will need 4 GB of memory and a quad core processor that runs at least at 2.5GHz. Rockstar suggests the ideal experience will require 8 GB of memory and an Intel core i5 chip (or equivalent), capable of running at 3.2GHz. The install size is 65 GB.

Rockstar also says the Windows edition supports up to 4K resolution, 60fps, and triple monitor configurations, as well as Nvidia 3D Vision.

A breakdown of PC specs, written by Rockstar, is listed below.

GTA V Minimum PC Specifications:

  • OS: Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Windows 8 64 Bit, Windows 7 64 Bit Service Pack 1, Windows Vista 64 Bit Service Pack 2* (*NVIDIA video card recommended if running Vista OS)

<< LINK REMOVED >> I love even my old ps3 but as much as I liked playing gta5, a hell of alot of the shine was dulled by the fact that I knew it was coming to pc and that the pc version would be the way to play it. There is no doubt playing a game on pc is so far superior to any console, but ease of use and comfort (even though I can stream any game to my tv anyway, most people don't) I can see how people could prefer a console. However, your comment deserves a LOL @ 30fps and most games being sub 1080p.

Is this delay because they want to spend more time on the stupid movie editor that 95% of PC gamers won't even bother to use?

Meh, I've got it on Xbox One and X360, I can wait for the PC version still. Only doing it for Mods anyway.

Anyone have some insight though?

How does an AMD HD7870 2GB compare to an AMD R7 290X 2GB?
Or a AMD X8 FX-8350 @ 4GHZ (8 CPUs) compare to an AMD 5500 APU @3.2GHZ (4 CPUs)

I know my processor is lower spec, obviously, so I won't be running at ultra settings by any means. But if I can play it at X360's level of fidelity I am ok with that.

Avatar image for f3kuinth3a55gs
f3kuinth3a55gs

<< LINK REMOVED >> If you have a dedicated GPU do not get the APU, it is far far slower than the FX-8350, if you already have a 7870, dont upgrade to a 290x yet as the 7870 is still a great gpu, wait for the 300 series amd gpu's or get a 970 or 980 if you must upgrade now, for gta 5 I see no point though if you are playing at 1080p.

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> If you're referencing that 4k can't do 60hrz you're mistaken, if you're referencing that GTA V can't do it because it's not out yet you're correct, but it's still a stupid joke. What is the difference between GTA V on PC and The Last of Us remastered on PS4? Both were released a year later. In essence we are waiting a couple of extra months past the "next gen" GTA V release, which I'm more than willing for 1080p 60 fps and better EVERYTHINGGGGG

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> The comparison was not for TLOU on PC. It was a comparison of remastered versions of games. I'm not upset, but even though you're trying to act like you're being coy, I can tell you harbor some feelings about PC gaming/gamers. I was just here to say even if we didn't get GTA V ever our games are better than yours and every game that is released on both consoles and PC is better on PC.

Name me one game in the past 5 years that was released on PC and console, in which its PC version is not superior in every way.

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> Not compared to the current version. Yes, the consoles got the upgrade to the item system before us, but now we have the best version.

But isn't that funny? The consoles essentially got the remastered version of Diablo 3, kinda like this version of GTA will be for us.

Avatar image for nomadsalt

<< LINK REMOVED >>

In this conversation it's probably more ironic than funny but we'll have to wait and see if the pc version of GTA V is so much better/different if/when it comes out.
