THQ has announced that it has picked up the North American publishing rights to GT Advance Championship Racing for the Game Boy Advance. The racing game, developed by the Japanese firm MTO, was released alongside the Japanese launch of the GBA. It features 40 authentic cars from seven different manufacturers including Honda, Mazda, and Mitsubishi, among others. Two players can compete head-to-head using the GBA link cable.

"GT Advance Championship Racing maximizes the capabilities of the Game Boy Advance hardware, making it one of the most realistic and exciting titles at launch,'' Michael Rubinelli, vice president of product development for THQ, said. "As a leader in the handheld category, we're thrilled to be able to start our next-generation handheld lineup with such a strong offering.''

The game will be released alongside the North American launch of the Game Boy Advance on June 11.
