Take-Two Interactive announced that more than one million copies of Grand Theft Auto for the PC and PlayStation platforms have been shipped since GTA's release last year. The game first came out in December of 1997 from BMG Interactive, but Take-Two acquired all the assets of BMG in March of 1998 and took over the GTA juggernaut.

Take-Two recently rereleased the game in Europe at a reduced price (as part of Sony Europe's "Platinum Program"), and the game has been climbing back up the United Kingdom sales charts.

A sequel to the game, GTA2, is being developed by DMA Design Ltd., which developed the original Grand Theft Auto. That sequel should come out for the PlayStation and PC formats in October of 1999.
