Grand Theft Auto V sells 3 million in UK - Report
Rockstar Games' open-world action title reaches 3 million United Kingdom sales faster than any game before it, according to new report.
Grand Theft Auto V has sold 3 million copies in the United Kingdom since launch, reaching that milestone faster than any other game before it, according to GfK Chart-Track data calculations by trade site MCV.
Rockstar Games' open-world title surpassed the sales mark of Call of Duty: Black Ops II in four weeks and is approaching FIFA 13's sales total, MCV added. Moreover, GTAV is expected to become the best-selling title in the history of the UK game industry.
After FIFA 14 held the top spot for two weeks following launch, GTAV reclaimed its place as top seller this week in the UK, moving 100,000 units during the latest reporting week. MCV added that some retailers continue to report low stock levels for the game.
Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two Interactive has not disclosed official worldwide unit sales figures for GTAV. Last week, Guinness World Records claimed the game sold 11.2 million copies worldwide on launch day. However, Take-Two said it could not verify this figure.
Officially, GTAV generated $800 million in 24 hours and $1 billion in three days.
