During an earnings conference call today, publisher Take-Two (the company responsible for the Grand Theft Auto franchise and BioShock Infinite) reported record-breaking revenue numbers.

Reporting non-GAAP revenue of $1.27 billion, Take-Two has increased their projections for the rest of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2014 from $2.2 to $2.3 billion.

According to Take-Two, the driving force for their success has been Grand Theft Auto V. After leading software sales in the September NPD report, GTAV has already sold “nearly 29 million units, exceeding the lifetime sell-in of Grand Theft Auto IV on console in less than six weeks after launch." While that number reflects copies sold to retailers rather than the actual number in consumer hands, Take-Two is confident that sales will continue to be strong into the next financial quarter.

Other factors influencing the successful year included over $118 million from strong continuing catalog sales of Grand Theft Auto IV, Borderlands 2, Civilization V, Red Dead Redemption, and NBA 2K13. Downloadable content, led by offerings for Borderlands 2, Civilization V, and BioShock Infinite, contributed another $105.5 million.

Take-Two did not divulge any specific details on upcoming titles, but the call did confirm that they have "more than ten unique titles planned for next-generation consoles, including multiple releases slated for fiscal 2015." As above, it's important to remember that fiscal 2015 extends to March 2016. More details on future games will arrive in the coming months.
