Take-Two Interactive's Rockstar Games division has announced that Grand Theft Auto III, the PC version of its popular video game of the same name, will arrive in stores on May 21, 2002. The game will feature a number of improvements on the console version, including enhanced sound, more detailed graphics, and a customizable player character.

Grand Theft Auto III was previously released in October on the Sony PlayStation 2, and it has since won numerous awards for its innovation and groundbreaking design, including the number-one spot on GameSpot's Top 10 Games of 2001 and the Game of the Year award at the 2002 Game Developers Choice Awards. The game has also been a commercial success, selling more than 2 million copies in the US and becoming the best-selling PlayStation 2 game since the console's launch in October 2000.
