Grand Theft Auto 5 multiplayer gets capture the flag mode tomorrow
GTA Online adding new team-based mode tomorrow on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
GTA Online, the multiplayer mode for Grand Theft Auto V, will add a new team-based capture the flag mode simply called Capture tomorrow on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
The new mode, described as a "GTA twist" on the classic capture the flag mode, will be delivered for free through tomorrow's automatic update.
GTA Online's Capture mode will be playable across four different game types, which are detailed below, courtesy of Rockstar.
Raid - "You'll have to fight your way into your opponents' base and steal a package, then deliver it back to your base to score points. Reach the target score, or deliver more packages than your opponents do in the allotted time to win the match."
Hold - "Teams must collect and store as many packages as possible in their base. Packages can either be found on the map, or stolen from the opposing team’s bases. Reach the target score, or hold the most packages when the time runs out, to win."
GTA - "As the ubiquitous acronym might suggest, GTA mode tasks players with stealing target vehicles located all around the map, before bringing them back to their respective bases. Each team must fight to steal more vehicles in the allotted time than their opponents."
Contend - "In Contend, there's only one package, situated in the middle of the map. Teams must fight to bring this package back to their respective bases, and once the package is captured it respawns in the middle of the map and is up for grabs again."
Tomorrow's GTA Online automatic update also features numerous fixes and tuning updates, Rockstar said. Check out the full patch notes for more.
Last week, Rockstar released GTA Online content creation tools and revealed that new GTAV story DLC is in development for release in 2014. This content will extend the stories of main characters Michael, Trevor, and Franklin, though no other details were specified. GTAV generated $1 billion in the three days after launch and has shipped 29 million copies to date.
