Gran Turismo 5: What's New in Update 2.0?

New NASCAR autos and more steering wheel views are featured in the free Gran Turismo 5 2.0 update.

Polyphony Digital has recently released a sizable update for its 2010 driving sim extraordinaire Gran Turismo 5, which weighs in at a hefty 1,192MB. The version 2.0 update costs absolutely nothing and comes packed with a whole load of tweaks, improvements, and additional content. The major features in the 2.0 update include:

Cockpit Views for All Standard Cars

The game contains more than 800 standard vehicles and now, thanks to the update, you can race them from behind the steering wheel.

More Nascar

The update adds an additional 11 NASCAR 2011 vehicles to the game for fans of US stock car racing.

Weather Change Menu

The weather settings are now adjustable from the quick menu on certain tracks, letting you tweak the degree of changeability, surface water, and more.

Avatar Available in Photo Travel

Lonely cars are now a thing of the past in Photo Travel thanks to the 2.0 update. A press of the triangle button adds your avatar to the scene.

New Intro Movie

Along with changes to the game itself, the update also includes access to a new intro movie obtainable through the Gran Turismo TV option at the main menu. Take a look below.

Among the further features in this update are:

• Improved car physics simulation

• Logitech G25/G27 steering wheel support

• Shortened load times

• Improvements to the online lounge

• New "Indy: NASCAR Pit Stop" stage in photo travel

• Fast-forward and rewind functions added to all replays recorded after 2.0 update
