Gran Turismo 4 Cheat Codes Discovered 19 Years Later
Almost 20 years after its release, a set of cheat codes for the PS2 game Gran Turismo 4 has been discovered.
A player has discovered a set of cheat codes in Gran Turismo 4, which originally launched for the PlayStation 2 in 2004 in Japan and 2005 in North America.
The player, known as Nenkaai on Twitter, shared a video of a cheat code in action--specifically, one that automatically allows the user to pass a license test. The user also shared additional cheat codes that can be activated to make the game much easier.
So many years and this game still holds surprises, GT4 does actually have cheat codes👀👇 pic.twitter.com/toyyIHIJKW

Nenkaai also explains that cheat codes can only be entered after 365 in-game days have passed. It's unclear how exactly this player discovered the cheat codes.
The discovered cheat codes are as follows:
- 10,000,000 Credits: Select, Left, Right, Right, Down, Up, Up, Left, Down, Up, Right, Left, Down, L1, R1, Select
- Pass a License: Select, R1, Select, R1, Select, L2, L2, R2, R2, L1, Select, Select
- Earn Gold On a Specific License Test: Select, Select, R1, R2, L2, L2, Select, L1, R1, Select, R2, L1, Select
- Earn Gold Any Event: Select, L1, Up, Up, Select, R1, Down, Down, Select, L2, Select, R2, Select
As Nenkaai notes, the cheat for earning Gold on any event is a bit finicky and "doesn't always work." It's possible more cheat codes are hidden within the game. After all, the newly discovered cheat codes remained hidden for nearly two decades.
The latest entry in the acclaimed series is 2022's Gran Turismo 7, which received positive reviews, with critics praising its visuals and attention to detail. Gran Turismo 7 was recently updated to include PS VR2 support.
