Grab Quake 3 For Free On PC Before It's Gone Tomorrow

If you don't already own Quake 3, you can get it for free on Bethesda Launcher just by logging on.

Update: Quake III: Arena is now free to claim on the Bethesda launcher for the next day or so. To claim the game, all you need to do is log into your account. Quake and Quake II were also free to own recently, but those offers have since ended. Unlike previous games in the series, Quake III focuses on multiplayer action, so if you fancy some old-school deathmatching, you should check it out.

Original story follows.

When it comes to the early days of the FPS genre, there's really no substitute for the original trilogy of Quake games. Though each game is radically different from one another--the steampunk fantasy of Quake 1, the sci-fi Strogg slaying of Quake 2, and the pioneering multiplayer of Quake 3--each of them have held up quite well over the years. Well, thanks to a successful charity drive at this year's QuakeCon, a couple of them will be free to own soon.

If you don't already have Quake 2, you can pick it up for free for the next 72 hours on the Bethesda Launcher simply by logging in. Quake 3 will be free to own on August 17 starting at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET. No word on Quake 4 yet, though it's honestly best left forgotten.

Quake 1 was previously free to nab on August 7, so sorry if you missed out. It'll run you $5 on Steam, but it's often on sale for much cheaper. If you need more Quake in your life, check out Quake Champions, which went free to play back in 2018. If you missed out on QuakeCon, we've got the highlights covered here.

I got notifications telling me about downloading Quake 1 when it was too bloody late. You know that is annoying as f*CK.

I already played and finished Quake 2 and don't care about Quake 3 as it has no campaign.

They didn't give people sweet feck all time to download Quake 1. I would have downloaded that. I didn't even know there was a Quakecon this weekend until it was too bloody late. When I checked they were charging 1.50 for Quake 1 so I decided no f*CK that, it should be free. It's ancient but I'd play it if it was free.

I would play the hell out of Quake 1+2 (again), if they made a port for the PS4/PS5...

But does the game include a functioning soundtrack? Quake 2's a big pain in the ass to get the CD music to work on modern hardware and you just can't play it without Sonic Mayhem.
