[UPDATE] A spokesperson for The Molasses Flood clarified the situation surrounding the aforementioned "enhancements."

"The enhancements refer to the original game's tweaks, fixes, and improvements since launch will which be present in the PS4 version right from the off," the representative said. "PC and Xbox One versions will be unified with this, so no one will be missing out."

The original story is below.

The celebrated indie game The Flame in the Flood, made by a team that rose from the ashes of BioShock developer Irrational Games and other studios, is coming to PlayStation 4 in January 2017.

The game comes to PS4 in the form of the Complete Edition, which includes director's commentary, a dynamic theme, two avatars, and a "host of gameplay enhancements." Developer The Molasses Flood didn't expand on what those enhancements are, but publisher Curve Digital said in a post on Twitter that they won't be released on the PC and Xbox One, at least not yet.

More details about the PS4 version of The Flame in The Flood will be announced at Sony's PlayStation Experience event, which runs December 3-4.

Released on PC and Xbox One earlier this year, The Flame in the Flood takes place in a "post-societal" America where players must fight to survive in a procedurally generated environments. In addition to a gorgeous art style, the game features original music written by Hot Water Music singer Chuck Ragan.

GameSpot's The Flame in the Flood review scored it an 8/10.

"The Flame in the Flood encourages you to put long-term goals aside and live in the moment, to make choices and overcome short-term problems with risky but satisfying spontaneity," reviewer Edmond Tran said. "Despite the awkward menu system, it's an absorbing game that lets you experience a journey in the present, and fully appreciate the sights, sounds, and joys of floating down the river in its alluring world."
