Disney+ is currently developing a potential Goonies TV series, tentatively titled Our Time, according to Variety.

Although plot details and casting and really any solid details about the series are still heavily under wraps, Our Time looks to be a lifeline thrown to the previously reported Goonies-related TV series slated for Fox from writer Sarah Watson (The Bold Type). The Donner Company and Amblin, who were behind the original 1985 cult classic, are part of the development team.

"Sarah worked nonstop to deliver this incredible script, we had our table read, and then the world shut down for COVID," says Clancy Collins White, executive vice president and head of development for Warner Bros. TV. "So we came back many months later and finished the beautiful pilot, and it was an incredible cast, but unfortunately a little bit too young for Fox. And so we immediately swung into high gear and hit the town with it… The deal [with Disney+] has taken a while to make, but we’re really excited to be moving forward."

For a deeper read on the blow-by-blow on the long-delayed Goonies TV show's journey to this point, check out the write-up in Variety.

Released in 1985, The Goonies is about a group of young misfits who discover an ancient map and set out on an adventure to find a legendary pirate's long-lost treasure. At the box office, it took in $124 million.

In 2020, the cast of The Goonies held two separate virtual reunions for charities.
