Along with a new range of OLED TVs for 2021, LG has announced that native support for Google Stadia and Nvidia GeForce Now is coming to its TVs later this year.

This will be the first time both services are offered through a TV directly, previously requiring hardware such as a Chromecast or Nvidia Shield to run. Announced at CES 2021, Stadia will launch on LG's new TVs in the second half of 2021, with support for its premium tier which delivers games at 4K and 60FPS with HDR and 5.1 surround sound.

LG stated that TVs will require webOS 6.0 to access Stadia, which will ship with its new TVs. Older sets, such as last year's LG CX, will need to wait a bit longer. LG says support for webOS 5.0 is coming later in the year.

Support for GeForce Now will also be later this year, with LG simply announcing plans to bring the service to its TVs. No specific restrictions to ranges or operating systems were announced.

LG is the first TV manufacturer to announce native support for gaming streaming services, which starts delivering on a vision Xbox boss Phil Spencer predicted last year. Even though Microsoft's own streaming service, Cloud Gaming with Xbox Game Pass (xCloud), isn't part of the announcement, Spencer did say that he hopes TVs will eventually just have a Xbox app for this purpose.

"I think you're going to see that in the next 12 months," said last year. "I don't think anything is going to stop us from doing that."

LG's latest OLED TVs aren't significant overhauls from its amazing sets from 2020, but they do finally address the issue of low brightness. They are expected to launch during spring this year.
