Google Stadia Launches For iOS Soon, Cyberpunk Preorders Get Free Stadia Premiere
The cloud gaming platform will enter a public testing phase on iOS.
Google has announced that iOS users will get to check out the cloud gaming platform Stadia in the future. Stadia will begin a public testing phase on iOS "several weeks from now."
Google has not provided an exact release date or window for when Stadia will be available on iOS. The company simply said it's the "first phase of our iOS progressive Web application." The company also said that it will test performance and add more features based on feedback, all of which should improve the overall Stadia experience for all users of the platforming.
In addition to announcing the news that Stadia is coming to iOS, Google revealed that those who preorder Cyberpunk 2077 before December 18 can get a free Stadia Premiere Edition while supplies last. (The game launches worldwide on December 10; our Cyberpunk 2077 review is now live.) The Premiere Edition of Stadia, which retails for $100, includes the Stadia controller and Chromecast Ultra.
This announcement coincides with the final Night City Wire livestream, in which developer CD Projekt Red confirmed that rockerboy Johnny Silverhand will be playable in the game. We also went hands-on with 16 hours of gameplay and found that the NPCs are its best part. Further, we tried to see if having sex was an option in Cyberpunk 2077 and walked away... surprised.
In other Google Stadia news, Destiny 2 is now free-to-play on the cloud gaming platform. Stadia users can check out the New Light version of Destiny 2, which gives players access to a bevy of Destiny 2 content, including the Crucible, Gambit, and Strikes, among other features.
