Google Stadia: Launch Game Lineup And All 2019 Releases

Including Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Red Dead Redemption 2, and exclusive Gylt.

46 Comments

Google Stadia, the massive company's entry into the console scene, is launching this month. Until recently the company has been quiet on which games coming to the service will be available right out of the box when the first customers get to log in on November 19. Now that silence has been broken, with Google outlining the full launch lineup as well as another batch of games to come online throughout the rest of the year.

In the announcement, Google says it will start with 12 "carefully chosen" games, with an additional 14 more coming by the end of the year. [UPDATE: There will now be 22 games available at launch, with Google announcing a last-minute expansion to the lineup with games like NBA 2K20. You can see an updated list below.] The launch lineup does notably include two fighting games, Mortal Kombat 11 and Samurai Shodown, along with the rhythm games Thumper and Just Dance 2020. Those all seem aimed at addressing latency concerns right out of the gate.

They join other big console releases like Assassin's Creed Odyssey, the rebooted Tomb Raider series, and Red Dead Redemption 2. The lineup also includes Destiny 2, which is included with a Stadia Pro subscription. Given that Stadia Pro is part of the Founder's Edition, and those will be the only people playing on day one, that means everyone playing will get it.

Check out the full listing of both launch day games and others coming throughout the rest of the year.

Apart from borderlands 3 and Attack on titan 2 final battle, the rest of those titles can be picked up 30-40% cheaper physically than their rrp, So why would you want to pay full price for any of them on the stadia.

I've got a Pro and XBoxOne X now and I've kind of decided that I'm getting the PS5 but not Scarlett--but I did already sign on for Stadia. I figure I will use that to play titles I don't feel are worth $60 (which I personally find to be most of them). I had hoped there would be more "free" games for subscribers. The unknowns for me now are exactly how much Stadia games will be discounted and how much my data cap gets wrecked. My internet provider told me once already this year that I went over one month.

@mp: you know you have to buy all titles on Stadia for $60 except Destiny 2 right?

@siarhei: "For monthly subscribers, additional games will release for free on a regular basis, starting with Destiny 2: The Collection" "For those who pay a monthly fee, games will be discounted, but when Google rolls out its Stadia base package next year with no monthly fee, games will not be discounted." That first quote says other games will be free. The second quote mentions discounts. Believe me, I'm not sure how this is really going to play out once release gets here, but I'll be watching closely. I'm hoping even that if the service starts to bomb or doesn't do as well as they expect that there might be other discounts or enticements.

@mp: pretty sure your quote says there will be free games down the road but it doesn't say when or what games. I wouldn't count on big titles being free off the bat.

How much of a discount do they offer?

Or is it also tbd?

@siarhei: "...for free on a regular basis" is rather ambiguous in terms of the timing and no, the amount of the discount isn't mentioned. And that's why I said I'll be watching them closely as time goes on. But I preordered months ago, so I'll be logging in next week to see if continuing the service will be worth my while.

I don't like the idea of spending 60$ for a full game and still have pay some money to play it.. I would prefer a "streaming game pass" service instead. XCloud looks more promising .... Just my opinion and I really don't care if someone disagree ;)

To answer all the (ignorant) comments below. Stadia's selling point is NOT exclusives. At least not at the moment. The target audience of this service is ppl who don't want to spend 200-500 on a box that downloads tons of GBs to play a game. It's for ppl who want to sit on their couch, turn on their smart tv and start playing AAA games straight away. I don't know if it'll be succesful(that remains to be seen) nor do i encourage anyone to buy it(i know i won't). I'm just trying to distinguish apples from oranges.

@redalert539:

You either need that box or an unreal internet connection in order to get a good resolution. Tried PS Now and it sucked whenever the internet was not spot on. And this considering PS Now runs at 720p, you can imagine if you try 4k...

I see Google didn’t learn anything from Microsoft. The Xbox One didn’t lose just because it was a weaker console. It lost, because of its almost complete absence of quality exclusives. The One X proved that. Stadia doesn’t have anything that you can’t play on something else. Why in the world would anyone buy into this when they can get a PS4 for $200-$400 and have way more games, without having to worry about having the connection speed to smoothly stream games? Plus, PS5 will be out in a year. Stadia is gonna be dead on arrival.

Not going to waste my hard earned money on such a crappy console. Where are the exclusives to draw in the customers to buy such shit. No exclusives, no sales.

The only thing worse than the auto-playing ads on this site is a system that launches without RPGs.

in a year or two the stadia game rental service will be a footnote as gamers will realise that once they lose access because google owns the game and hosts it on their servers despite paying $60 or $100 dollars a game depending on where in the world you live in reality you are only renting the access to said games.

@locke90: Not really any different to Bethesda constantly changing stats on a game you paid for such as Borderlands 3 yet in reality not doing a damn thing about fixing the core issues with performance on console. Smoke and mirrors is about all they are good for. Borderlands 2 was and still is the better buy.

I'm going to take a wait and see approach with this. First impression of this I'm skeptical but if it does take off and they do well I MIGHT consider buying into it. And that's a big might. Time will tell

As a guy who has a PC thats getting old (dat 960 graphics card) and only a Wii U and a PS3... and Also got 2 kids that leave little time for gaming, this looks pretty promising.

I have a hard time justifing to myself buying a new gaming rig, but paying a small monthly fee? I could have Stadia for YEARS before even reaching The cost of just a 2070 graphics card, let alone The rest of the rig.

Ill wait for reviews but I see a 90% chance of getting it. Probably gonna start with FFXV and maybe Borderlands.

@ultralof: going by googles record you will only have your game rental service for a year or two before they drop it because its not popular enough.

Some definite heavy hitters in that lineup but the main issue that Stadia may have to overcome is what makes any brand new consoles’ launch a hit or a miss. Namely NEW big name titles/exclusives.

While having Red Dead 2 or the newest installment of Mortal Kombat is great the fact that these are titles that have been out for many months (or in some cases years.) is less likely to have gamers chomping at the bit to get their hands on Google’s latest device.

I’m still skeptical that Stadia will take off the way Google is perhaps hoping it will but then again the marketing for Stadia has been rather absurd with the amount of exposure it has been getting (Literally every commercial I see on Youtube has something to do with it.).

Even if that translates to some kind of initial success, I personally can’t see Stadia taking over the baton as the leader in gaming for the near future. Then again, what do I know?

@bdrtfm: Pretty much, lol.

All joking aside I think they may be able to actually do well if their intended target is the casual gamer market. Y’know, the gamers that buy the latest GTA and COD title and that’s it for the year.

It will be interesting to see how Stadia is chugging along a year from now and if gamers see an actual return on their investment.

It's weird saying these are launch titles as these are all old games.

I've played and beaten about 90% of the games on the list. I get it though, these games will be 'launching' for Stadia, but who hasn't played these games on Xbox/PC/PS4 already?
