Good Omens has been renewed by Amazon. The acclaimed adaptation of the 1990 fantasy book by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett will return for Season 2.

The renewal will be a pleasant surprise for fans, as Season 1 was originally intended as a standalone limited series. Amazon has also released a poster for Good Omens Season 2--check it out below:

Good Omens Season 2 will once more star Michael Sheen and David Tennant, as the angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley, who in Season 1 formed an unlikely alliance to save the world. The series doesn't have a release date yet, but it will start production in Scotland later this year. Gaiman is an executive producer once more.

In a statement, Gaiman said, "It's thirty-one years since Good Omens was published, which means it's thirty-two years since Terry Pratchett and I lay in our respective beds in a Seattle hotel room at a World Fantasy Convention, and plotted the sequel. I got to use bits of the sequel in Good Omens--that's where our angels came from. Terry's not here any longer, but when he was, we had talked about what we wanted to do with Good Omens, and where the story went next. And now, thanks to BBC Studios and Amazon, I get to take it there."

Good Omens isn't the only Gaiman adaptation on its way to a streaming platform. Netflix's high anticipated Sandman show is currently in production, and stars Tom Sturridge as Dream, Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death, Mason Alexander Park as Desire, and Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer. Check out a recent Sandman behind-the-scene teaser.
