Godzilla 2: New Viral Tweet Teases "Monster Zero"

It's been a long time since there was any news about the upcoming sequel to 2014's blockbuster monster movie Godzilla, but we finally have an update. Unfortunately it's not great news for fans--the release of Godzilla: King of the Monsters has been delayed by two months.

As reported by Deadline, the movie will now hit theaters on May 31, 2019, instead of March 22. But while audiences will have to wait slightly longer to see it, director Michael Dougherty has released a new promotional tweet. Like the series of viral videos released last year, it doesn't give much away but seems to show a radar focused on something ominous called "monster zero" Check it out below:

Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be third movie in the MonsterVerse, following Godzilla and last year's Kong: Skull Island. The movie stars Vera Farmiga, Bradley Whitford, Thomas Middleditch, Sally Hawkins, Charles Dance, plus Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown.

A synopsis was released last year, which reads: "The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species--thought to be mere myths--rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance."

The fourth movie in the MonsterVerse will be Godzilla vs Kong, which is currently scheduled for a 2020 release. Last year, director Adam Wingard spoke about the movie and explained that he hoped to match the monster mayhem with emotional drama. "It's a massive monster brawl movie," he said. "There's lots of monsters going crazy on each other, but at the end of the day I want there to be an emotional drive to it. I really want you to take those characters seriously. I want you to be emotionally invested, not just in the human characters, but actually in the monsters."
