God Of War Ragnarok Confirmed For PC, Release Date Announced

Sony announces its next PlayStation game that's coming to PC.

As part of the PlayStation State of Play event, Sony announced that God of War Ragnarok is headed to PC soon. The game comes to PC on September 19, with Jetpack Interactive handling the PC port.

The game supports unlimited frame rates, along with ultrawide monitor support and DLSS/FSR/XESS. Players can experience Ragnarok at up to 4K on PC. System requirements for Ragnarok on PC will be announced at a later date. The 2018 God of War game is also available on PC.

A PlayStation Blog post confirms players will need a PlayStation Network account for God of War Ragnarok on PC to access all of its features and bonuses. This might end up being a contentious item among fans, as Sony was widely criticized when it announced that Helldivers II would need a PSN account (before ultimately backtracking on that decision).

Ragnarok for PC comes with all post-launch updates, including the new game+ mode and the Valhalla DLC. People who preorder through Steam or the Epic Game Store before September 19 will get the Kratos Risen Snow armor and the Atreus Risen Snow tunic cosmetic items.

There is also a digital deluxe edition of Ragnarok for PC that comes with the following:

  • Full God of War Ragnarok game for PC
  • Kratos Darkdale Armor
  • Atreus Darkdale Attire (cosmetic)
  • Darkdale Blades Handles for the Blades of Chaos
  • Darkdale Axe Grip for the Leviathan Axe
  • Official God of War Ragnarök Digital Soundtrack
  • Dark Horse Digital Mini Artbook

Ragnarok originally launched on PS4 and PS5 in November 2022 and became a huge success. It was Sony's fastest-selling game ever until Helldivers 2, and has sold more than 15 million copies so far.

Ragnarok is just the latest PlayStation game to come to PC. Sony previously brought titles like The Last of Us, Ghost of Tsushima, Days Gone, Horizon Forbidden West, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Spider-Man to PC. A PC release for Ragnarok is no surprise, as it's been rumored for weeks now.

While Sony is indeed bringing more of its PlayStation games to PC, the company is not launching new games on PC alongside their console counterparts like Microsoft does. In most cases, Sony waits at least a year before releasing a console game on PC. Exceptions include multiplayer and live-service titles, like Helldivers II.
