God Of War PS4 Sales Exceed 10 Million

Sony's PlayStation 4 exclusive is selling really well.

Sony has provided a new sales update for PS4's God of War--and it's a huge total. The game has now sold more than 10 million copies, according to a slide from Sony's recent investor day briefing.

The 10 million sales figure was shown to demonstrate the strength of Sony's owned franchises across platforms. As you can see, God of War franchise sales have grown across their entries on PS2, PS3, and PS4. The same is true for the Uncharted and Last of Us franchises.

It's not clear if the God of War (or other games mentioned in the graphic) count copies sold in console bundles, but that seems likely. God of War launched in April 2018 and became the PS4's fastest-selling exclusive game ever.

This same presentation brought us a fresh look at the PS5's impressive load times, as well as some discussion about backwards compatibility. Sony also offered a reassurance that, despite skipping E3, its previously confirmed slate of PS4 exclusives are still coming to PS4.

Ahhhahahahah, yea close to 100 million consoles sold & only 10% of players bought the game, what are they just watching pourn on their stations, maybe it should be called PournStation? Sorry bros, but my PS4 is collecting dust cuz single player games get so boring FOR ME fast, when compared to multi-player (MP). with your buds & unfortunately backwards compatibility along with some great multiP. games (Halo, Gears of War...etc) is what keeps me on the evil dark side. Still luv Sony though, just have to be honest.

Also, I have been to high-end houses that just use the PS4 as a Blu-ray player in EVERY room, cuz they are so reliable & they can run YouTube, Netflix...apps, so the 100 million number does not mean 100 million gamers. Sony was a great hardware media company & the PS4 is still considered the go to media hardware & nobody ever talks about it. Also, I bought 2x PS4's & nobody talks about PS4 owners who buy multiple systems and can skew the base of reported sales vs actual gamers. How many of you also have 2 or more PS4's?

@just1mohr: Halo, Forza or Gears attach rate on the Xbox One isn't anything to write home about either. Why isn't the Xbox community getting behind the big 3?

The 100 million represents diversity in gaming. PS4 has lots of diversity in it's exclusives, thus many different types of gamers buy one. Though I guess you wouldn't understand. As for sales, the Xbox One S' best selling point was it was the cheap go to 4K player, didn't work out though did it?

@videogameninja: Single player games will never die, but they are more exciting in the beginning of the generation, when the graphics are upgraded. Then there is more incentive to play & see what new and exciting things can be done, and we are always looking for the next WOW factor. Toward the end of the cycle it becomes harder for me to play single player games & I get stuck where I have more fun with, Multi-Player games.

@ccgod: It is a little surprising that it hit 10 millions but then again with all those PS4 's out there this should not be that much of a surprise to anyone. If you have something to complaint about this game was the tiny bosses i was expecting bosses in the scale of God Of War 3 and this game was a series let down with that part and second and i don't even play games online, i play anything single player but that's just me because now in today's games if the game don't have some sort of online play it is consider a let down and this game didn't have anything.
