God Of War 2: Ragnarok Adds Last Of Us Sound Designer To The Team

The new God of War game brings on Beau Anthony Jimenez, who previously worked on Last of Us 2 and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

Beau Anthony Jimenez, a veteran sound designer who has worked on several high-profile Sony games such as The Last of Us: Part II and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, is continuing his work with the PlayStation company. Jimenez announced on Twitter that he's joined the PlayStation Sound team, and his first project in that role is a big one: God of War 2: Ragnarok.

"Beyond thrilled to announce I have joined the PlayStation Sound team," Jimenez wrote. "Honored to help contribute to PlayStation's tradition of pushing the industry forward with iconic-sounding experiences ... starting with the next God of War title!"

In addition to Sony's games, Jimenez has contributed to Ori and the Blind Forest, The Witness, Destiny 2, and multiple Destiny 1 expansions, including Rise of Iron and The Taken King.

Jimenez describes himself as a "sound designer and ear exciter" who is "driven to push the limits of game audio and help steer a team towards excellence."

"As an interactive sound artist, Beau is driven to explore the relationship between a powerful soundtrack and the technology that controls it: how the two can be truly be optimized, finessed, and intelligently interweaved to create a dynamic soundscape that emotionally resonates with the player," his official bio says.

The God of War sequel was announced in September 2020 as the "new God of War title," but fans have quickly turned to calling it God of War 2: Ragnarok. The game sees the return of Kratos and Atreus as they explore more of the ancient Norse realms and encounter more powerful gods looking for retribution.

God of War 2: Ragnarok, or whatever it's called, is scheduled to release in 2021 on PlayStation 5. Whether or not it will also release on PS4, as is the case for Horizon: Forbidden West, remains to be seen.
