The new season of Premier League is almost here, and unless you're disconnected from all forms of technology and media it seems hard to ignore the buildup. If catching your favourite team on TV at your local pub isn't enough for you, you'll soon have another way of getting a dose of football fever.

No Caption ProvidedOn-the-go footy fans will be able to catch 45-minute "extended highlights" of their favourite matches from August 17 using the PlayStation Portable's Go!View service, a partnership between Sony Europe and Sky. In a nutshell, Go!View allows you to download video content to a PC, which is then transferred to your PSP, in a similar manner to Apple's iTunes and iPod video integration.

Sky Sports has the broadcast rights to 92 live matches and 242 "near live" matches this season. While it's not clear if highlights of all of those matches will be available, the companies claimed in a statement "all GO!VIEW customers will be able to access games involving their favourite Premier League team."

Premier league highlights are part of Go!View's sports package which currently costs £5 per month and is available from www.goview.tv.
