Actor Giancarlo Esposito stars on a show about superheroes, The Boys, but he might not be done in the superhero space. The Breaking Bad actor said at a recent event that he spoke with DC Studios boss James Gunn about a role, and it might get announced soon.

Appearing at Comic-Con Panama recently, Esposito said, "I had been talking to James Gunn about the possibility of being in a movie. So who knows? It could happen soon." According to social media user Mint Doom, who recorded the video of Esposito at the event, Esposito said this in response to a question about whether or not he has had a chance to appear in a DC movie.

Gunn is the co-studio head of DC Studios, so we can assume he and Esposito were discussing a role in a superhero movie for DC. Gunn and Peter Safran are mapping out the next phase of DC movies, and an actor of Esposito's caliber joining the cast of a new movie would certainly be big news.

Esposito has been acting for decades but rose to a new level of fame with Breaking Bad and the prequel Better Call Saul, playing the evil drug kingpin Gus Fring on those shows. He does have some history in the DC world, as he voiced Lex Luthor on the Harley Quinn animated series.

The newest DC movie was Blue Beetle, which opened on August 18. The next DC movie release is Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which releases in December. A sequel to Joker arrives in 2024, while Superman Legacy and The Batman 2 are set for release in 2025.

On the video game front, Rocksteady's Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is set for release in 2024, while the mobile game DC: Dark Legion is also coming out next year.
