The newest entry in the Ghostbusters franchise, Frozen Empire, will hit theaters a little earlier than scheduled. Sony announced that the movie will move up a week, now premiering on March 22, in both IMAX and regular theaters, too.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire will feature two generations of 'busters teaming up together for the first time to take on an all-new threat and save the world from a second Ice Age. Director Gil Kenan, who co-wrote the screenplay with Jason Reitman, has said he's ready for the next generation of stories for Ghostbusters.

"I remember there was a moment halfway through the first morning of directing one of the big scenes where I looked at the monitor, and just caught myself with the biggest grin ever," Kenan said. "Finally, it dawned on me that I was calling 'Action!' and 'Cut!' on some of my very favorite characters in movies, working on a big cinematic scale on something that I really cared about. I try to hold on to that feeling. I still have it now, finishing the film."

This will be the first Ghostbusters movie released during the spring as the first three films were released during the summer and Ghostbusters: Afterlife was released in November.

The film stars Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, Celeste O’Connor, Logan Kim, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts.
