Ghostbusters 1 And 2 Are Getting A Limited-Edition 4K Blu-Ray Set
The special edition reprint also includes new bonus features and an exclusive case.
Ghostbusters 1 and 2 are getting another chance at life with a 4K Blu-ray set that bundles both films with an exclusive steelbook case and all-new special feature content. The limited-edition release will emerge from the ether on September 26, but you can preorder it now for $43.59 at Target or $66 at Amazon.
There doesn't seem to be a reason for the price difference--we're assuming someone crossed their streams, and the Amazon price will drop to match the Target price in the future. The good news is, if you preorder at Amazon, you won't be charged until your order ships, and Amazon's preorder price guarantee ensures you'll only pay the final price.
In addition to 4K Blu-ray, this set comes with standard Blu-ray discs as well as digital copies of each film.
Ghostbusters 1 and 2 are notable as some of the first supernatural comedy films, and remain pop cultural touchstones almost 40 years on. Both films were directed by the late Harold Ramis, who also stars in both movies alongside fellow comedic heavyweights Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson. They follow paranormal investigators Egon Spangler (Ramis), Peter Venkman (Murray), Ray Stantz (Aykroyd), and Winston Zeddemore (Hudson), who run a ghost-hunting service known as "The Ghostbusters," and find themselves thwarting supernatural forces that threaten New York City.
A sequel to the first two Ghostbusters movies, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, released in 2021 and sees a new generation of ghost hunters teaming up with the surviving members of the original quartet.
