Ubisoft today outlined its post-launch plans for Ghost Recon: Wildlands today, which includes paid content through a DLC pass and free updates.

The DLC pass comes with two "major" expansions, as well as a one "special mission that call[s] on players to take on enemies that only experienced Ghosts are able to handle." Season pass-owners will get to play the new expansions one week before everyone else can buy them.

People who buy the pass also get new outfits and weapons, as well as a permanent 5 percent XP boost and a "single-use short XP booster" that offers +50 percent XP bonus for the player and +25 percent XP bonus for everyone in their squad for a period of two hours.

Here is a full rundown of what's in the DLC pass, as written by Ubisoft:

  • One week early access to two major expansions:
    • Narco Road: Players will infiltrate a gang of smugglers and take part in crazy races and challenges to earn their infamous leader's trust and destroy them from the inside. Gamers will be able to meet new bosses and travel the wildlands in new vehicles.
    • Fallen Ghosts: During an evacuation mission, the Ghosts' chopper is shot down and the squad will need to adapt as they’re tracked down by an elite group of ruthless mercenaries. Players will fight a new powerful enemy, learn new skills and unlock weapons to complete their mission.
  • The Unidad Conspiracy missions: Players will work to break down and destabilize the alliance between Santa Blanca and Unidad in the Media Luna province.
  • The Peruvian Connection pack: Players will be able to play through the Peruvian Connection mission as well as receive seven gear patches
  • Faction themed equipment packs
    • Rebellion Ghost Pack: Players can don an outfit inspired by the brave Katari 26 rebels. They will also unlock a unique AK-47 equipped with a bigger magazine and customized with unique engraving work.
    • Unidad Ghost Pack: Players dominate enemies with an Unidad outfit so they can attack Unidad camps dressed just like one of them. They will also unlock a unique Unidad LMG weapon, customized with the colors of Unidad, and equipped with a red dot scope and a larger magazine.
    • Santa Blanca Ghost Pack: With a Santa Blanca-inspired outfit, players can mimic their style without joining their ranks. This pack also unlocks the Santa Blanca golden M1911, customized with engravings and the mark of the cartel, for players to unleash chaos on the cartel.
  • Exclusive vehicle: Bolivian Minibus
  • Digital content
    • Permanent +5% XP booster for the player
    • Single-use short XP booster: +50% XP for the player and +25% XP for other players in the session, expires two hours from time of use.

In terms of free post-release content, Ubisoft will add head-to-head multiplayer to Wildlands after release. This will be in the form of a 4v4 mode. More details will be announced later.

Ubisoft did not announce release dates or windows for any of Wildlands' post-release content. The DLC pass costs $40. There is also a Gold edition (containing the game and the DLC pass) that goes for $100.

In other news, the Wildlands betas attracted 6.8 million players, setting a new record for Ubisoft. The game launches in full this coming Tuesday, March 7.

What happen to all of the global missions they promised us when they first presented this game? i hope they aren't done after these two DLC's

Oh, good. All the Pre-order fluff is in there. That means I have nothing to lose by waiting for a sale or a general price drop. Horizon and Andromeda first for me I guess.

Thanks for making it easy for me to decide to wait Ubi, very helpful.

That's it my only hopes of a Socom like game are ruined 4v4 wtf atleast 6v6 or the classic 8v8 would've so much nicer. And since I dont care for sp I personally will have to pass on this game.

I don't know what to make of this game. Played the open beta and enjoyed my time with it, but it's got some serious flaws and in many ways it's barebones. There's a lot of things one would expect from a tactical military stealth shooter game that isn't here. Maybe the only reason I'm even considering it is because I got nothing else to play right now.

@saturatedbutter: it feels a bit clunky for me. The third person cover mechanics it's just not smooth enough. Not as smooth as say watch dogs 2 cover mechanics and animations. It feels like the player I control is handicapped . I can't dive to cover or do a body roll for example. If am surrounded by few enemies, it's game over.

I loved the beta and my squad and I can't wait for launch. Ist fun I've had in a video game since Witcher 3. That said, I think season passes are generally a bad deal unless you are a raving uber-fan or love cosmetics. Just wait for the reviews, buy the DLC you want seperately.

@cappy: Season passes are always a bad deal. Buying an unknown quantity and quality. If I buy a season pass it is after all content has released so I can decide if the price is worth it. I even waited for the witcher 3. I am still waiting for the ringed city to release for dark souls 3... but the way ashes shaped up I may wait for a sale.

@theothersider: Agreed. There is very little to gain when buying early and a lot to lose. Personally I enjoy the anticipation of waiting too.

@cappy: I wouldn't say I like waiting. I just don't like getting ripped off lol.

@theothersider: Right! I started to enjoy waiting more on my 40s, I think cause I'm constantly overwhelmed it's almost a relief I don't have yet another thing to do! Lol!

racing? the vehicles mechanics in this game are so dated and just awful. Helicopters in particular.

They might have addressed some of the optimization issues during open beta but it still does no get away from the fact this game is poorly and cheaply made.

Avatar image for valduramma

@holyroodplays: agree. Cover mechanics is far from smooth. It feels like a half baked effort. It's a shame, I really wanted this game to be good. It is almost good. Almost!

Avatar image for artfull47

@holyroodplays: Seriously, i don't understand the need to put racing in a Ghost recon game point. I mean even the driving shouldn't have been an important aspect of the game. They really stripped apart Ghost recon original serie and its a bit disapointing they choose a ''funny open world map'' direction instead of a more authentic military theme game.

Avatar image for artfull47

@se7en1989: yep not much left of Ghost recon. They let down old fans of the original serie. The trailer looks like a Watch dog 2 game DLC

Avatar image for cappy

@se7en1989: Actually I like how the weaved it into the story of earning trust and possibly opening new game pathways. The convoy disrupt missions in the beta are awesome and I was hoping for more chances at vehicle combat. But, the convoy did have quite a but of tactical choices (steal a helicopter, roadside ambush with explosives, find a jeep with mounted gun). I don't know how they would provide that here, but maybe there are some tactical elements.

Anyone else notice in Xbox store says game is available on 03-05-17 ?? Am I missing something does it release earlier than the 7th in some cases? That's not available to download either because I already downloaded the game at 40 something gigs and the beta was 23 I think. I'm confused not looking for hate or trolls either..lol

season pass = passed, I feel like Ubisoft had the worse season pass content ever, I got more out of fallout 4, the witcher 3, and Batman Arkham Knight season passes then anything from Ubisoft.

Avatar image for cappy

@tulemg006: I actually loved the division season pass. it's the only one I've ever bought. I would have bought all the DLC anyway (Survival is especially awesome but I have also logged many hours in the Underground and Last Stand sounds like it could (big maybe here) help PVP in that game feel like something). The extra supply drops are a very nice bonus in that. But if you were not interested in the DLC, then yeah, it's not very good.

Avatar image for phrog
phrog

@cappy:That's funny because the only game I've bought the Gold Edition was for The Division and I stopped playing it months ago. I never made it to the DLC because I lost interest in the game. I've heard that the updates have made the game a lot better. On a side note, I wish the developers would bring back mods. Remember when you could make your own levels? One of my favorite levels we made for the original Ghost Recon was a "Alamo" type level. I miss those days...

Avatar image for LilFuniAZNBoi

@phrog: Same. The game and the season pass was on sale from a UK website for about $64 I think a few weeks before the game was released. I got it thinking that it might be a long game but I finished all the PVE missions and got all the collectables in the first week. The daily missions and PVP stuff didn't really hold my interest too much and I didn't want to farm so I can get more mats to craft a slightly better gun to bring up my Min/Max. My friends that I play with quickly left and I went on to play another game. Didn't play the first incursion.

Avatar image for cappy

@phrog: oh you have got to try Survival DLC if you own it already! It is the best part of the game and in the words of a Gamespot reviewer (I think) feels like the way the game was meant to be played. I do PVE, not PVP. the new cold, hunger, disease and thirst mechanics make every snack bar and water bottle a valuable find and starting with just a green handgun and armor make gear acquisition fun again. I even think the way it handles PVP is better: if you do PVE. You can chose to band together or just compete for resources. PVP let's you attack other players where your u all start working th same skills and equipment. It's brilliant.

And the changes definitely made the core game much much better. I was done with the game but when they added high value targets and named enemies to the light zone I got another 10-20 hours out iit easy.

@cappy: I just not worth it sometime, I didn't regrets buying season passes for the witcher 3 and fallout 4, but i regrets buying season pass for assassin's creed syndicate, and watch dog. It just the content does not justified the price tags :(

Avatar image for cappy

@tulemg006: Good point, yeah. Also depends on how much the main game has and what other games come out.

Although I loved Fallout 4 the main game had so much to do, and i like to do all the side quests, I ended up not even starting the Far Harbor DLC. It's hard to know ahead of time. Witcher 3 DLC is amazing, the art direction of the new area was such a lovely departure, and the house mechanics were great, new element.

Avatar image for tulemg006

@cappy: couldn't agree with you more, i haven't started on fallout 4 DLC yet, but the witcher 3 was the most bang for your bucks DLC that have ever purchased. I am looking forward to the new Mass Effect with no season pass. Hopefully It will bring the old trend back - a complete game without bulls**t paid DLC. I don't mind the in-game micro-transaction things, but still i haven't paid for any of them yet.

This game looks like pure trash. The kind of game that offers no gameplay. Playing a benchmark such as Crysis 2 is more fun than this.

Avatar image for silversix_

Avatar image for cappy
Cappy

@silversix_: oh well, probably it's not for you then. This is the game friends and I've been waiting for. I was on the fence during closed beta, as the difficulty was low, but the open beta showed off harder challenge and some great encounter designs that really made us ponder our options and strategy.

@cappy: I think his point may be that this isn't a Ghost Recon game at all. The name is the only thing that's Ghost Recon about it

Avatar image for cappy
Cappy

@imajinn: Ah, did not realize that, thanks for clarification. I guess it depends on how you define what makes a ghost recon game, and that will be largely subjective.

For example, original Devs have said that they were always trying to get as close to a team of players working together. Since that was not technically possible before, they had to approximate that with commands for AI. But now tech improvements allow them to nail that original vision: real players on your team. They don't have to fake it with micromanaged Robo AI. And even in solo, they try to get as close as possible to that feel of real players beside you. I personally love the solo and that I don't have to micromanage them. It is far from perfect but it works well enough for me to feel I'm a member of a team.

But, if you are a solo player who loved that team micromanagement aspect of the former games, I can see how you would feel it's no longer like the game you loved.

That is unavoidable when devs make big changes, but if they don't they risk stagnation. It's a tightrope walk between the two I think.

Why do these expansions sound just like the division dlc? I didnt buy it then and im not buying it now. Wait till its on sale for 30$ with all the dlc since nowadays the dlc is shit that should have been included in the game at launch.

After feeling ripped off by the last two season passes I bought(Destiny & Division) I think I'll be passing on any season pass for the foreseeable future. The single player/co-op content being added also doesn't sound like anything special.

Avatar image for cappy

@suicidesn0wman: yeah, season passes don't ever seem like a good deal unless your are obsessed with a game. Even Fallout 4, which was awesome, I just waited and got some DLC separately. Turned out there was way more than I felt like finishing in the end.
