When Manga Entertainment released Ghost in the Shell in the US both in theaters and on home video, the movie became the best-selling anime film in history.

The title, adapted from the original manga by Masamune Shirow, has also been released in the US as a sci-fi comic release from Dark Horse.

On July 17th, Japanese gamers will get their first chance to play the game, produced by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan with original animation done by Production IG. The concept behind the gameplay was taken from Jumping Flash (a PlayStation launch title), and adds the ability to climb up walls vertically and collect a wide array of weaponry. Each mission is opened and closed with original animation produced by Production IG, which also worked on the feature film.

The US release should follow from TH*Q in October.
