This $55 discount is better than the price during Amazon Prime Big Deal Days.

Walmart's latest Xbox Elite Series 2 Core controller deal is the best we've ever seen. Right now, you can grab the red Elite Series 2 Core for only $85.17, down from $140. This is an even steeper discount than we saw during Amazon's Big Deal Days. Walmart was offering the white Elite Series 2 Core for $88--though the white model has a lower list price of $130. This is the first time we've seen the red controller for less than $100. Walmart is also selling the Robot White standard Xbox Wireless Controller for only $37.36 (down from $60).

The Elite Series 2 Core controller is budget-priced alternative to the standard Elite Series 2 and released last fall. It's worth noting that the Core controller doesn't include any of the attachments the standard Elite Series 2 comes with, but those can be purchased separately if you want to upgrade it further with additional customization.

Unless you opt to also buy those attachment, you won't get back paddles, four extra analog sticks to swap, a swappable D-pad, or the carrying case. Instead, the Core controller simply features the premium build of the Elite Series 2 controller--nicer sticks, trigger locks, an eight-way metal D-pad, and tactile handle grips.

If you decide you want the back paddles and other accessories, you can always purchase them separately. Best Buy is selling the Complete Component Pack for $60.

Alternatively, you can pick and choose which swappable parts you want and buy them from third-party companies. For instance, you can get a nice set of back paddles for around $10 We've tested these third-party paddles and they feel good and work well. Third-party controller manufacturer Scuf also has a really nice set of Elite Series 2 back paddles for $15 (down from $20).
